Jonathan literally "fell" into his career as a photographer. While coaching the Jackson Hole Ski Club, he injured his knee, sidelining him from his coaching responsibilities for the winter. At the time, Jonathan was enrolled in a CVAA photography class taught by a variety of the area's top photographers. As it happened, one of those instructors, David Swift, was in need of a photo assistant. With no skiing in the immediate future, Jonathan jumped at the opportunity.
After four years of working with David Swift on a variety of commercial photography projects, Jonathan ventured out on his own, combining his commercial experience with his enthusiasm for the world of outdoor adventure sports and lifestyle. Jonathan strives to create visual motion in still images by focusing on composition, lighting, and fluid movement.
Currently Jonathan is shooting a mixture of action and lifestyle images for commercial and editorial assignments. You can look for Jonathan's work in such publications as SKI, Skiing, Powder, Freeskier, Backpacker, ESPN, Sports Illustrated, and Outside Magazine. Jonathan is honored to work with such corporations as Patagonia, United Stated Ski Team, Boeri, Thorlos, Rossignol, Smith, and Byer of Maine.
Although Jonathan is no longer coaching ski racing, he is involved with leading the local 4-H youth's photo club.
While Jonathan is continuously busy travelling, shooting, and managing his business, he strives to get out and enjoy the bountiful recreational oportunities here in Teton County.
Jonathan shoots both in 35mm and 120mm formats, and is thrilled about getting deeper into the digital world.
